Paper Frank

Frank Dunson aka Paper Frank is a self-taught, internationally known, multidisciplinary artist and professional tattoo artist. Born in 1990, Frank grew up in various locations in Georgia but spent his formative years in Asheville, NC where he credits his artistic upbringing. Hailing from a family of artists, Frank strove to succeed in his new artistic venture modeling his experiences and dysfunction into his artwork. After graduation, Frank returned to Atlanta where he failed to secure an apprenticeship in City of Ink, an Atlanta-based custom tattoo shop and art gallery. However, Frank persevered, amassing the attention of the Atlanta art scene and eventually securing an apprenticeship at City of Ink.

The early 2010s would consist of a slew of solo Paper Frank exhibitions such as Blossom, My Beautiful Anxiety, and Pink Lemonade featuring Copic marker drawings on paper, Acrylic paint on canvas, and his murals. Frank would also go on to be featured in the Paper and The Big Draw in Mobile Museum of Art in Alabama and Sprawl! Drawing Outside the Lines in High Museum of Art in Atlanta where his work would join their private collection. He would soon garner notoriety through his vibrant palette, Tiger aptly named ‘Frankie’, Damien, Jessica, and flower petals which are featured in all mediums of his work. Benefiting from his mentor, Miya Bailey of City of Ink, Frank would continue to hone his abilities as a tattoo artist eventually traveling across America and eventually London. Not one to limit himself, Frank has been expanding his artistic abilities onto apparel, jewelry, and even animation
