Executive Insights - April 1, 2024

Alexis R. Faust, Executive Director of Science Gallery Atlanta

"In the arts and sciences, it is not enough to simply see things from different perspectives;

we must have the courage to take that next step and to create something new

from the synthesis of those perspectives."  -John Maeda

I am thrilled to announce the inaugural edition of The Convergent, Science Gallery Atlanta’s newsletter. This newsletter will be published quarterly and will include news, reflections, observations, and stories by artists, researchers, and mediators, as well as a calendar of upcoming events at the Gallery.

Science Gallery Atlanta facilitates the convergence of ideas and disciplines – between Emory University and the local community, mediators and visitors, scientists and artists, and among the international network of Science Galleries. Innovation thrives at this intersection in our communities, and it is there where some of our greatest discoveries have been made. Quantum mechanics, neuroscience, genomics, and of course, climate change science, are all examples of how new scientific knowledge today often transcends the traditional boundaries between disciplines. It is, however, when you create space for the sciences and arts to collaborate that an entirely new construct evolves.

Science Gallery Atlanta provides a safe place to explore, discuss and create in this new construct. I hope you will join us in our explorations and for our upcoming exhibition, Resilient Earth
